The Seitz company was founded in 1856 by Jakob Seitz. In addition to transporting passengers between the hotel "Zum Goldenen Kreuz" and the railroad, Jakob Seitz took over the function of today's omnibuses by regularly taking on company trips, e.g. Regensburg - Marienthal - Regensburg. Initially, he only owned a carriage with two horses and an exchange team. However, he expanded when his sons Georg, Joseph and Ludwig joined the business and eventually took over the company.
Initially, they still offered their services on horseback. General cargo transport by rail was also carried out by horse and cart. So-called general cargo, i.e. all goods such as crates, boxes, bales and barrels, were transported by horse and cart from the railroad to the customer and vice versa. Likewise, long-distance removals were first carried out by horse and cart to the railroad, while local removals continued to be carried out exclusively by horse power.
Transportation was still carried out by horse until 1926, when the horse-drawn vehicles were transferred to cars and trucks and the commercial registration of a "rental car business" was made. In the following years, the company grew to a size of approx. 8 buses, 12 trucks and 20 to 25 employees.
On January 1, 1964, the Seitz company split into several independent companies, including a forwarding agency, a workshop, a travel agency and the furniture transportation company founded by Ludwig's son Gerhard.
Today, only Gerhard's son Stefan Seitz still runs Spedition Seitz. The scope of services has been expanded again, and today Spedition Seitz not only offers removals, but also transports of art, pianos and computers, goods and heavy loads, overseas packaging and high-bay storage.
